Our new platform is here 🌐
Our first few lenders are uploading their listings as we speak. This is a very exciting update from me as it means many more people can sample what shelff has to offer.
Why are you creating a new platform?
Our current @shelff.rentals platform has been really great in spreading the word about what we do and for users to start renting/lending their items. However, it has been a very manual process and I am always looking for ways to enhance the experience of our community!
What will the new version allow me to do?
Search for items and find pieces (and users) near to you
Exchange messages with other community members
Filter your search to match your price
And many more!
Sounds amazing, when will it be released?
It will be released by mid-March to renters, and as a newsletter subscriber, you’ll be one of the first few people to get access.
If you want to start lending pieces, register to be a lender on our waitlist below! (select: “I’m interested in… Lending interior pieces” or “Both”)
Our eponymous blog series, Sitting Down With, made its debut over to Instagram Live this month.
We chatted with Loanhood, SNKRS ‘N’ HOUSEPLANTS and MOYA LONDON in the last couple of weeks to find out more about their respective communities and brands, style vs. trends and conscious consumption.
Some key takeaways from out chats:
Take the time to know your style - this will help you figure out which pieces or looks are a trend and which ones you’d be wearing time and time again. This could take a while and is often a constant iteration in itself, but it’s key in knowing which pieces you’ll treasure forever.
Progress is key - greenwashing is rife in many industries these days. It’s important to acknowledge that whilst big companies aren’t perfect, the big changes many of them are making is helping change their industries for the better.
Consuming consciously takes many forms - from renting and swapping, buying secondhand and directly supporting causes in need, conscious consumerism takes many forms. Figure out what works for your current circumstances and don’t be afraid to try out new ways to be more impact-driven.
Just do it - whether it’s starting a community to combine your interests, learning a skill, or forming new habits, there is no better time to do something than now, especially if it ties with your own values and mission.
Five for February 📚
We’re sharing some favourite finds from the WWW. At shelff, we love browsing to find inspiration on how we can use items we already own!
This month we’re focussing on books: one of the most understated interior pieces there are. From coffee table books, to secondhand literature, to colourful collections, there are many ways to show off your favourite reads.
We’re not here to judge whether you’ve actually read the book or not 📖
A staircase surrounded by books, showcasing how compact living isn’t always about minimalism.
Books to add height, colour and depth in this room designed by Rita Konig.
A modern take on a library.
Minimal, yet impactful placing of books alongside everyday objects.
Display colour and your personality without needing to show off piles of books.
